Maldene is a world of magic and science, wizards and dragons; but home also to an incredible secret. One jealously guarded by History’s most villainous being: Miro. For centuries his presence has been plaguing the nightmares of gods and men; the world is in his thrall, there is no one willing to face him.
Or perhaps there is. The young wizard Sabu, and his elven friend Eldar, lead their companions on a journey to seek a destiny foretold them by a blind gold-skinned gypsy. Fighting a three-hundred foot dragon will be but the beginning of this quest, as they journey the globe in search of answers to the mystery of Miro’s villainy, and uncover the world’s long-buried secrets. For they are destined to lead a new battle against this most ancient of evils, to gather all beneath the banner of a mysterious King and face the unfaceable.
There is just one problem: Miro is counting on their success.
Other highlights:
At the back of the novel are a number of appendices elaborating on some details in the world of Maldene, including such things as the following:
• The Maldene alphabet (yes, I have the font file for it).
• Maldene dictionary: some common words used by the characters and other elements of the language.
• Time on Maldene: On Earth the term is ‘year’, ‘week’, or ‘second’ but here it is a ‘rel’, ‘kev’, or ‘tid’. The differences are given here. A Maldene calendar is also included.
• Correct pronunciation key for the characters.
• A world map is also included in the opening pages (fully complete, so you can wrap it around a globe).
For each novel I add something new from my notes for the appendices. For instance, in Book 11 since one of the main characters is into reading the local tarot cards, I include a full card-by-card explanation of the Maldene tarot.
Maldene Series Overview:
The full story of Maldene comprises 13 novels (including the last in the series that breaks records at 570,000 words while not being anything less than nail-bitingly intense), and spans multiple continents of Maldene itself, a journey to its three moons, other worlds and dimensions, and across a well of time that stretches many thousands of years. The world itself is developed enough, and detailed enough, to be a place as real-seeming as Earth, with multiple cultures, religions, unique styles of magic and science, and all the details that keep the reader riveted to their seats. What at first appears to be a purely fantasy epic actually includes elements of science fiction intertwined along with the magic, until by the end there is no distinguishing one from the other. In total there are 13 novels, 250 characters, a multitude of plot threads, several alien races, clues that the reader will miss the first read-through but be able to go back and see where I’d laid them, and a total of about 5.2 million words between all 13 novels.
Some of the many places of Maldene include: The Harbor Of the World (picture a harbor about the size of the Gulf of Mexico where a hundred different cultures from around the world mingle), Tedelnosho (a giant whirlpool some 1500 miles across that’s been spinning around for millennia and no one knows why), the Sea of a Thousand Islands, the continent of Catho (where, among other things they meet the mad wizard Po-Adar), and Thïr Glomdaïtaÿor (a castle shaped like a six-pointed star over a mile across; it is the home of the King).

A Southern California native, I am a full-time author and ghostwriter and holder of a Master’s Degree in Physics, which often plays well in my creation of other worlds. I am a master of creating alien and fantastical worlds, having written over 30 books to date, including the 13-book epic that is Maldene, the 5-book supernatural conspiracy story of Cyberdawn, the Inspector Flaatphut series, and more. I just have this one problem with writing, though: I can't stop!
I am a writer and storyteller through to the core. I have been writing my own novels since 1993– close to 35 of them at last count, making my career wordcount close to 10 million words– and that was after about 15 years of planning out the first of them. I have been a professional ghostwriter since 2010, though I have lost track of the number of books so ghostwritten. Furthermore, I have a Master’s Degree in Physics and a second BS in Math, which plays well with my creation of other worlds and alien sciences. My mind has gone to the ends of the Multiverse and back, and engraved my imaginative musings into such stories as I would love the world to see.
In short, I start at ‘epic’ and work up from there, but all while never forgetting that it is the characters that the story hangs upon.
