Moonlight Beach by Yurie Kiri
Chick lit Café Awards First Place to Moonlight Beach: Murder and Magic by Yurie Kiri for best Paranormal Thriller, Crime & Mystery
Moonlight Beach by Yurie Kiri examines the bizarre and outlandish murders, and gruesome crimes being committed at the charming beach town of Rancho, California. It is filled with mystery, witchcraft, paranormal activity, mystical mayhem, and dark magic. This is the perfect novel for fans of these genres. One of the very best I have ever read. It is completely original with unique characters and an incredible, engrossing and gripping plot and storyline.
Body parts are washing up on the beach and the detective is trying figure out who is committing these crimes and what exactly is going on. Then there is also a group of friends using certain drugs and conjuring up spirits. When the group performs the rite on a full moon, their combined strength gives them more power than they originally intended and they cause the spirit of a powerful witch from long ago, called Katomi, to get trapped inside one of the friends’ bodies. This is just one of the various evil occurrences going on in the wealthy community. Only the friends shared strength can protect Katomi from “Roy,” who is an ancient shaman who has been attempting to trap Katomi’s spirit inside dying bodies while he rapes and mutilates each one. Katomi’s spirit can only be released from her host’s body if Roy or the host is killed, but her presence allows the four women to have power over other’s minds which they wield to protect themselves and their coven. In an action-packed plot sequence, as the women attempt to dodge Roy at all costs, another nefarious deal is unraveling. Ike Bracken, a multi-millionaire needs a liver for his young son. His son’s condition can only be improved with a transplant, but the wait is too long. Luckily, Roy is good at murder—murder is what feeds his power—and he’s equally equipped to harvest organs. Especially for cash. As events come to a head, readers will be flying through page after page to see if the women can survive an ancient madman.

Author Bio:
Yurie Kiri is a shy, secretive person who used to live on a boat, sailing between various ports in the Pacific Ocean. Yurie lived on the boat until some crazy mega-yacht got loose and went on a full throttle rampage through the marina squashing everything it hit. Alas, sailing was one of Yurie’s passions, now writing and photography are the main passions in Yurie Kiri’s life along with cats of course like the enhanced, intelligent cats featured in New York Stories…
Yurie Kiri, born in a trailer in rural America, studied Mathematics and languages and speaks Japanese, English, French and has also studied Chinese, Arabic and Spanish as well as a smattering of other languages such as Korean and Russian along with binary, octal and hexadecimal machine language because if you really want to get to know someone you need to speak their language no matter if they’re machine or human. Yurie lived and worked in Asia for decades before coming back to America where Yurie went on an extensive backroad journey across the US and Canada from the rough Mexican border towns to the icy cold town of Yellowknife in Canada’s NWT where you need to cross a frozen lake to get into town in the winter. Yurie also sailed (single-handed) from Mexico to the Canadian border, retracing a well-traveled road journey by sea in a small, live aboard sailboat. Yurie has been traveling and gathering story ideas from Asia for the Game Series which covers Japan and other Asian countries and North America for the Murder and Mystery Series which covers the American Southwest.
However, if you really want to know who Yurie is, please read the books, they are filled with clues – especially the notes to readers that Yurie always uses to introduce the books.
